Job hopping shouldn’t be judged. It should be more accepted to try many things to find what you enjoy.

Why does society make people choose their life's work at 18 when most people don't know what they want to do next week at that age. It's human nature to try many things and have many different skills. Tastes change, preferences change, and views change in humans all the time. I started a job 2 weeks ago that was within my skill set but something I have never tried before or thought of trying when I first started my career. It has been such a difference in my life to do work that I enjoy and find rewarding rather than work that just breaks me down. I really feel that forcing people to do jobs they hate or else will starve is a cruel and unusual punishment. (Also I am high so forgive any weirdness and brought to you by me overcoming my depression)

Employers Ignored the Loud Quitters

The number of resignations is still at a record pace a year later. On top of that, employers are feeling the pain of not being able to be ridiculously picky about new hires. As someone who quit last year, I think I know why work to rule is becoming such a big deal. The unimaginative manager thinks that employees are either good or bad, lazy or motivated, loyal or deceitful. People can be all of these things at different times. I was more engaged when I had interesting work. I would pull back on effort when I was treated poorly. Now that something like 1/3 of the US workforce has quit a job in the last few years, my guess is that those louder quitters are more likely the ones who put in effort, increased their skills, tried to make a difference and got shafted by their employer. The “quiet”…

Am I being screwed

Okay first off I’m in CA and I work for a company that won a contract to provide support for technical issues with certain devices to a major facility. I am not technically employed by winning company as they have contracted me through a job agency to fulfill the duties required by the facility. I get no benefits, I’m NOT an official employee for the Company or the Facility. Recently the offered additional duties to be on standby/on call for several devices that require 24/7 weekend support and 6pm-12am weekday support. I accepted but I cannot get paid unless a device needs support. How do I find out if a device needs support? I get an email from the device when someone puts in a ticket. I have to check my emails constantly through the day and night. So if I get a call on weekends I get paid for…

Am I getting interviews just to fill a quota?

12 interviews in 3 months with no offers. Why are these people interviewing me if they have no interest in offering me a position. Am I just getting interviews because of the job market situation?
