My best friend passed away. My partner talked to my boss (they’ve met probably hundreds of times. She’s asked him for advice before. This wasn’t an unusual situation. My partner hangs out at my job a lot) and her response was “I love OP but I have a business to run.” Then proceeded to badger my partner as to why she and I aren’t close anymore. F off man, I’m destroyed.
At my job was in retail. Never wish it on anyone. Some of the things i experienced. Managers that were racist. Managers that hit on women that they had to transfer to different stores. People ratted on someone for smoking weed when they smoked weed themselves (later promoted to manager). Bullying. Certain rules for different people (managers favored people). Health and safety rules violated. Person made fun of someones dad dying (later became manager). What experiences did you have at your job?
He’s setting a horrible fucking precedent by pulling this shit and is right back to his micromanaging and lack of trust for the people he employs. It’s bullshit. Fuck work and fuck people who don’t know how to set proper boundaries
So I received a paycheck from my old employer for a fortnight's pay. I no longer work there.. I left the company (see my last post) and I feel this is a small compensation for the absolute shitshow the whole thing has been and the absolute drain on resources. I checked and I don't seem to be legally required to pay it back.. and if they could… They would have reversed said payment already. It seems wrong, but after the sheer hell I've been out through with these people.. it barely covers the mental health bill lol.
A company known in my field reached out based on a referral from a mutual acquaintance, who thought they would benefit from talking to me about a new position. I spent half an hour talking to the hiring manager about the company and the position. He told me next steps was some HR screening. HR called and asked a number of questions. They asked about my salary expectations, and I gave them a range, “depending on the total package, yadda yadda yadda.” He said that was fine, and would I be available for an hour long formal interview with the hiring manager again. Sure, no problem. I clear space in my schedule and have the interview. Hiring manager and I chatted for about 10 minutes, and then he said he had the notes from HR about my desired salary and “hopes there was a typo”. Excuse me? I reiterated my…
“Not qualified”
A while back (when the position was first posted) I applied for a position within the organization I work for. Today one of my bosses comes and tells me “we received your application, we were going to bring you in for an interview but HR says you’re not qualified” I’m beyond pissed off because all that was listed for qualifications was a high-school diploma or GED as someone with my bachelors degree this is insulting. The position wasn’t much of a raise however does pay more and better aligns with my overall career goals.
