Med induced insomnia and machinery

I started a new job as a hyster driver last week. Just dumping trash. I'm still so knew they don't have me on schedule and this weekend they didn't tell me when to come so I did my usual time. Nobody was there and office people are off. So guess I'm not working. I started a new med thinking two days would be enough….. ….now I'm sitting here wirh 48 hours sleep deprivation panicking if I should call out a new job or driving around in a train yard and machine rooms trying to not hurt someone Just ranting my misery

Unethical work practices

Every single company I've worked at (IT, digital agencies) at some point started to adapt a god awful practice of deception in order to regain lost profits. They would sell and invoice 100 hours but they would let us only perform actual work of 75 hours, because 25% must be the margin. We would then have to start tracking more hours than worked because the client would expect 100 hours and my reports had to match that. We can't get our margin through the hourly rate, because that rate needs to be as low as possible so that we can undercut our competition and remain listed as a vendor. Often I get into fights with my upper management and sales because I'm responsible for the management of the budget and task pipeline and I continue to refuse to mess with my team's time reports. I continuously tell them to raise…

“Sneakers are not business casual”

I'm wearing a blouse, slacks, and black converse. I'm not dressed appropriately in business casual because I'm wearing sneakers. I sit at a desk all day, no one sees my feet. And the honcho who has the issue with it? He wears sneakers to work! This is a hill I will die on. I'm not going to buy brand new shoes when these are perfectly okay. I'm not going to ruin my feet and ankles anymore than they already are wearing heels just to walk to the bathroom.

In what world does the author of this post from The Atlantic lives?

https://preview.redd.it/ut2laraa4fn91.png?width=891&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d733ba65a778b47b5aa4e9fdc44bd7e242865ef Seriously? Ok, I did the math: 24 hours a day – 8 hours asleep = 16 “waking” hours a day (I am being generous here), minus 8 hours working = 8 “free” hours, times 5 = 40 hours working a week. If we have 112 “waking” hours a week, then we have 112-40 “free” hours = 72. 72/40 is NOT 5, it is 1.8. 1.8 “free” hour for every labor hour. Also, the author does not consider that you do not sleep instantly when you lay on the bed, that your mind keeps working after your working hour even though you don't want it too, that you need the whole weekend to just recover, that you need to study BECAUSE of work and out of working hours because almost no employers will allow you to study during the job, that you need time to eat, go to the…

Quiet quitting till I find a remote job

Sick of working in a 9 – 5 in an office. If I can have minimal interaction with a manager and colleagues and get something that’s 100% remote I’ll take it. Why should I still have to commute to work every day when covid has proven you don’t need to and that staff are more happier at home? Why should I go “above and beyond” and work free overtime for a job that won’t pay me for it? The other employees and managers frown upon me for not starting half an hour early, I’m not going to open my laptop till I get paid to. I don’t work for free. You add up half an hour every weekday. That’s 10 hours a month of unpaid wages I’d be giving them for free. I’m going to go completely remote, move out to the country and enjoy spending more time at home…

work ignore my requests but expect me to answer to there’s immediately!

To clarify I have been at my job for 3 months now and when I went for my interview I was asked to give references which I did of course, now three months down the line they are going through all files and are asking me to give 2 references again. Why do employers waste so much of our time making us bring something before we start working if they are gonna ask us again after they actually employ you! Also for clarification on the title I have been requesting for my payslips and contract since my first payday but all my emails are ignored I bring it up in person and I get false promises of them tracking them down for me. Morale of the story don't expect employers to give a shit about what you need it's all about them!
