why do off shift workers need to validate preferences?

Whenever i have an interview for my preferred shift (2nd) the interviewer always asks why I prefer 2nd. Why does that matter it's not like I'm gonna ask why you wanna wake up before the sun. It has nothing to do with the job.

Just need to vent

I am well educated, work in a respected field, and am good at what I do. I work 6 days a week, 3 jobs. I just saw that one of my jobs has underpaid me by a magnitude of 10 for the second time this year. Even without that, I’m barely making ends meet and counting pennies. I just feel this is fundamentally unfair and makes me want to scream into the void.

I’m just losing all hope

My job recently hired one of those guys that come in and make everything more “efficient”. (Think like the movie office space but in a machine shop environment) Well the axe came down Friday during a meeting that they will be cutting hours. Evidently according to them the company isn't doing well. Even though there is a brand new $150,000 car sitting outside in the bosses parking spot. I just feel so betrayed. I've honestly came in every day since I started working there and tried to make quality parts and be a good team player. I used to work weekend hours when we were struggling to make enough parts to put our products together. I really thought that I found a good place to work for once. There is even a video online of our shop tour where there is a few second clip of me with a big…

I hate looking busy.

I work as a security guard and my job has a no phone policy. I can understand not using my phone at a busy work place where customers are at. But I work a post where I do patrols every 2 hours and I have nothing to do in between. I still use my phone anyway but I'm paranoid my supervisor might come by and fire me. But I rarely see them anyway and they seem pretty chill about it. I just hate working at jobs where I constantly have to look like I'm working.

I don’t think I will ever be able to hold down a job

First of all, hi. I'm new to this subreddit but I've been lurking for a long time. Almost all of the comments and the values shared here allign with mine. I hope that, finally, I won't be judged for expressing my viewpoint. The truth is, I hate working. I've switched lots of jobs and the longest I lasted is a year or so. And that was a part time job. I'm well educated by most standards (masters degree and all that stuff). I'm really good in my profession. But I'm not passionate about it and from today's viewpoint, I'm not even sure why I have chosen it and not something else instead. The reality of 9-5 full time job is killing me. I have one now and I absolutely despise it. It's not the pay, it's not the boss, nor the coworkers – I think it is me. After a…

Minimum wage in Venezuela is 0.1 USD/h (16 USD monthly)

Last week I posted here something related about this and a lot of people didn't believe it. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/venezuela-minimum-wage-risen-18-115603945.html 130 Bs. (Bolivares) monthly 1 USD = around 8 VES (Bolivares) https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/USDVES:CUR 130 / 8 = 16.25 Average wage (monthly) is around 80-120 USD. I dream working for 7.75 USD /h haha (I totally understand each reality is different and everyone worldwide should have a wage that let's you live even if that wage is a lot in other country could be not enought in another). By the way, I'm Venezuelan living here.
