So I worked at a company called Artivion in Kennesaw in their analytical chemistry department and my boss called me into her office for a one-on-one meeting. We do this every quarter and I always get great marks. I've never been in disciplinary trouble and all my coworkers say how quickly I pick up on everything. They love how engaged I am and everyone knows I like my job. So my boss starts laying into me about my performance issues immediately. I talk about how I'm the chemist with the most tests under my belt for several months in a row now. It's true. We have 9 chemists in our department and I consistently do 20%+ of all the testing that comes through our lab and I help other departments and do other tests that aren't documented in our system. The manager complained that the restaurant wasn’t closed properly last night and is making everyone on a scheduled shift stay late to bleach the inside because there is a fruit fly infestation. This is without pay. In New York, the wait staff pretty much works exclusively on tips. Obviously no tips are being earned whilst cleaning. What happens if someone refuses and gets fired?

Being on the hunt for a new job I’m exposed to a lot of demographics requests on employee job sites. From a practical sense, I can understand that some of the newer fields are requesting data to ensure that they are meeting their diversity quotas. That being said, WTF with asking my sexual preferences, my age and my MF religion?!? I find the religion particularly troublesome. It’s sort of like you are damned if you do and your damned if you don’t. Ugh. Just another level of fun in looking for a new job.

I'm a bit at a loss of what to do since in November I need a minor surgery that will take about 2 weeks of recovery and then I can return to my desk job with restrictions. I informed our HR dept and they stated that they want me to use vacation for my recovery time. It's 2 weeks. We aren't an FMLA eligible employer. I currently have a vacation scheduled in the end of December and already have tickets bought for everything. Employees have taken 2 weeks off with no notice after getting covid and weren't required to take vacation. We also have someone on maternity leave right now. It's such bs they won't cover a 2 week medical leave.

I recently switched jobs to manage a store. I’m a salaried employee that works 60 hours a week when I was told the typical work week is 40 hours. I have a work laptop that doesn’t seem to have any security on it, does anyone know if I’d be fired/in trouble for playing video games on it? I’ve seen my boss play video games on her phone.
