I’m in an apprenticeship in the UK, just started my 2nd year. Was on £6/h in my first year, and now i’ve gone up to £9.50 bc of law(min wage). Everyone got a 10% payrise at the same time, but I haven’t recieved 10% on top of £9.50. Am I entitled to a 10% raise on top of my £9.50?
AH boss pulled my husband aside this morning and told him he had better check his points because he was going to get with their assistant manager and anyone with points was going to have their hours cut. My husband just laughed and told him “You do that. I don't have any points. All my absences are covered under my intermittent leave because they were to care for my disabled wife. I told you that yesterday. ” And he went back to work. My husband is also full time so they can only cut his hours so much AND they are already severely short staffed. They should have 8 people on their team alone, they have 5 not counting AH boss. 2 are leaving effective Monday leaving them with 3. They just hired 2 more but already the 2 new hires are no calling no showing
Just wanted to share a recent lame interview experience. I was up to round 3 of interviews with a medium-sized consulting firm. On the Friday they asked me to prepare a 30 minute presentation with slides followed by 25 minutes of questions to deliver on Monday morning. Tough task but I felt okay to rise to the occasion and I worked on this for 6-7 hours on the weekend. When the interview starts, the interviewer starts asking normal behavioural questions and I’m wondering what’s happened. The hiring manager who briefed in this task to me was also on the call and remained silent, and I didn’t want to cut off the guy asking the questions. So it wasn’t until late into the allotted time that I mentioned I did prepare the presentation if they want me to touch on that. The hiring manager asked me to send it through to…
8 months passed and it was December. They were telling me I HAD to come in. Everytime I said I wasn’t coming in they said “yes you are”. Imagine their shock when it was Christmas Day and I was nowhere to be seen. After that everytime I went in I was told I “let everyone down” and they was “so disappointed” (like I care lmao), anyway I worked my ass off at the job and they treated me horribly and I now work at a slightly better place and get paid much more. Something else to add, they fired me a week after I told them I had adhd lol, apparently they needed someone “more reliable”. I had never been called unreliable in my 9 months of working there 🙂
Like, at all? I've only seen studies showing either that it works, or that are inconclusive
tl;dr, person comes up and knows the manager, and asks if they can match the pay of that person. That person is making $5 more than me (I make $15). I am so glad I got a potential new job w/ better everything lined up this week.
Cause wtf. The US has a major problem with people in the important jobs having a decent time. Not saying it’s just the US either before that crowd comes along. But look at this TA deal on r/railroading and then check out google search results. Solidarity with rail workers.
