Should I call out the VP of my company?
For context, I've worked here for 1.5 years. Production technician. When I started I actually worked in the shipping department and moved to the tech side a couple months after. I'm starting with a new large company with big salary increase and work from home next week and the VP seems very bitter about it since he was the one who hired me. We made a deal before I gave a notice that I would help the shipping department because they were going to be down a couple hands. $300 amazon gift card was supposed to come my way all said and done. So upon hearing that I'm leaving the VP does not want to hold up his end of the deal and give me the card. My boss also said I should let it go if i don't want to “burn a bridge” with this company. I've been nothing…
I apologize if this doesn't fit here so if it doesn't, please point me in the right direction. My friend (let's call her Kate) had to call out today because of an issue with her school. Kate has only had to call out once because her car had a flat tire and has been working at her job for three months now. She has been falling behind in her classes because even though she is working part-time, she still ends up working about 5 days a week after her classes and barely has enough time to get her schoolwork done. Today, she sent a message saying she could not come in because she needs to catch up on her schoolwork and that she will be there for her shift tomorrow. She gets a text saying “No, you have to come in because someone else called out.” Is there anything she…
Indeed. Zip Recruiter. Builtin. Every weekday I dutifully send 20 resumes to employers seeking to fill creative roles – content strategist, graphic designer, social media manager, etc. I’ve been in digital/social/mobile media for over a decade. My personal Twitter/Instagram accounts have 1000s of followers each. I recently started a TikTok. I have a website on which is my portfolio which includes both print and video collateral. I send a customized cover letter with each resume. Been doing this for two months since I was laid off from my last job. I’ver had three interviews. “No one wants to work.” Tell me what I am doing wrong?
Job is seemingly “quiet firing” me
Opinions please. I've been a massage therapist for 7 years and I've been working for an upscale spa in California for a little over a year (newly transplanted). My two previous jobs were great. They were both women run, small businesses who had cult-followings and really took care of their clients and employees. It was bliss compared to this. I moved to California and struggled to find a place because I've worked at a spa before and I've built up a very specific set of expectations. I stumbled upon what I thought was my dream job and was happy for a few months. Quickly, I started to get the truth about the business and the people behind it. I could go on and on about all the unprofessional things this family business upholds but the descriptions would be too obvious. This place is a mess but they have people “managing”…
I use the one hour I have a day of unpaid time for lunch to do my appointments. I had errands to run and a time sensitive one, at that, and decided to take my lunch break at 9:30am. My boss is upset with me and doesn’t hide it. My coworker told me I need to give my boss 24 hour notice. Why should I have to do that when I make my own schedule during the day? This didn’t interfere at all with his schedule. I get ONE hour during normal business hours and I think I should be able to use that when and how I’d like without repercussions. Am I wrong?
What the title says pretty much. I’m not sure if I’m obligated to participate in the hiring process for my team and adjacent teams, but I really don’t give a shit who they hire. I work for a HUGE company, that has recruiters and HR and hiring managers… like why am I doing your job. I understand some people care who their coworkers are and doing outreach and shit, but I’m the last person you want interviewing your candidates because I simply hate working and don’t give a fuck who they hire. Especially when they’re going to make them a higher offer than what I make. Just venting, I have no problem telling my manager to piss off with these invites (again), but it’s comical to me that they continue to send them.
