My workplace is always understaffed so every single day i’m not scheduled I get a call asking for me to come in. Most days I am able to but today when they called I said no. I work in a retail store and my school starts up again tomorrow so before they called me I was planning on going there to get some new clothes for school. I still plan on going shopping but I wanted to go there as I have a 10% discount when shopping there. Would I be wrong for this? Honestly i’m new to working and don’t know where to ask so i apologize if this is off topic. I’m not going to go, I’ll find another store. 🙂 Also they asked me 30mins before 5 to cover a shift from 5-10 so I said no.
I can’t help but feel the age range of a lot of users here is young (teenagers through early 20s).
I actually like my job, and enjoy working hard at my job, going above and beyond to try to be the best at it they’ve ever seen. However, if you aren’t going to reward hard work I’m going to go somewhere that will, so I plan to leave soon and work elsewhere. But I thought you guys would enjoy my little rant, so here goes: Long story short my gm screwed up the schedule for several managers. I have demanded a consistent two days off every week, whichever two days in a row she wants to give me, but the same two days every week. She picked Monday and Tuesday. My fellow supervisor who covers my days off about once a month needs Tuesdays off for school this semester. That’s his only request. His days off don’t even have to be consecutive. Well he included Monday night third shift within…
Find the email sent out in the comments; do let me know what you think and feel free to tell me what to do. xD Context. Was clear, that I will quit if the money isn't good; no questions asked. Though the common sense thing to do is, resign after you get an other job, putting my papers down today was about self respect and that isn't 'all talk and no bullshit'. P.S. I am not very concerned about getting another job. I was poached to this company by my current boss. I didn't care about the salary cause I felt seen & flattered. P.P.S. Bottom line, screw flattery, always money – and again, don't work for more than paid hours. Nobody gives a fuck & neither should you.
What happened to part time jobs?
There used to be so many jobs that were a couple hours a day, maybe a few days a week. Now it seems like every job is demanding 8 hours, 5 days a week. It’s too much, I can’t handle it anymore. I either want 6 hour shifts or 3-4 days a week. I mean it’s even cheaper for shitty companies because they avoid paying benefits. I’m just so tired and over working in general but 5 days a week just makes it feel like I’m wasting my whole life.
Big Boss posts in the group chat “X (a company we are a 3PL for) is on us to get as many trailers cleared from the yard as we can, please do your best” Me: Proceeds to lead his #1 team to our absolute worst trailer count day in months. Happy day after labour day comrades.
Rural Wisconsin, USA. Deep red town and area. All you here is “no one wants to work” and “this generation is so lazy.” Help wanted signs everywhere and sign on bonuses, longevity bonuses and show up everyday on time bonuses. So here I am, never no-call no-show. Never been written up. Employee of the month 6 out of 12 months last year and been at the same 9-5 for 12 years with a solid job history. Looking for an overnight shift job to save up extra money. Three interviews for work that a robot could do. I tell em all sounds good can start right away. I get flipping emails telling me I'm not a good fit. Not even a phone call. All factory work, and one of em couldn't even tell me the starting wage but had the power to offer me a job!? What the heck!? Is it…
I’ve tried to play devil’s advocate to justify this but it’s for naught. I hear huffing and puffing all day. Slamming on keyboards and talking whilst typing. I’m so stressed I just want to go back to my sanctuary and work from home with my dogs.
