I specifically looked up “Worker Reviews” to find a place where workers can honestly talk about any issues they have with a company. Seemed like a small but important way for workers to have power against their bosses: If a company treats its workers like shit, they can review bomb them and deny them future employees. What I found was glassdoor. It honestly seemed good in the beginning: It immediately let me look up a place of work, so I chose to look up where I work out of curiosity and then let me check its reviews. I read about 2 reviews, then it blocked me from all content. It asked me to log in with Google, Facebook, or Apple. So they're harvesting the data. Not a good sign for a place that should be serving workers. I sign in anyways, using Google because I don't want to go through…
Yesterday I went to an interview at a Skyzone (one of those trampoline park things). They seemed to be pretty urgently hiring as they had open interviews basically everyday and I was seeing ads everywhere for it. I had to fill out an online form first and was immediately met with a red flag. One of the required questions was “What will your mode of transportation be?” Now, while this isn’t asking someone directly if they have a car, unless they are looking for someone to park their car on a trampoline inside, I can’t see how this information would be relevant. I simply answered that I had reliable transportation. I then went to the location for the open interview. One of the workers saw me walk in with my resume and they correctly assumed I was there to interview. They directed me to a small row of bleachers for…
Into the teeth of the healthcare beast
In about an hour, I am walking into a meeting with all my upper management. I am going to be brutally honest about the state of our laboratory, our pay, and HR silly games to justify not paying people. I might not be able to update until after 10 pm, but I plan on at least recording audio to transcribe.
Hello! I'm an DVM from Mexico who has been hired as “Animal Scientist” by some ag companies; Riverview LLP ( MN), Christensen Farms (MN) These companies are recruiting just graduates from Mexico, offering us big payments, benefits, a new experience working in the States, Visa Actually, the truth is that the payment rates are 10.5 – 20 per hour… Depending on the State and the company I have friends living in OLD mobiles homes next to the barns, with flies and worms Yes, usually we got benefits Most of the companies doesn't pay for Overtime, even if you work 40+ hours The activities bare far from being an Animal Scientist; usually we are hired for power washing the pens, for the milking positions, or pretty much as general farm workers This is a scam that keeps growing because either the Mex or the American government are truly regulating the work…
Worked here for a year and a half, our department has already lost 35 employees in the past 4 months, crazy understaffed. Me and my friends all have plans for a beach house and I requested off a month ago, got it approved. Got an email today saying they had to decline it now due to staffing shortage for the week. Absolute fucking bullshit, if it wasn’t for rent cost I’d be out the fucking door rn
