I work a seasonal summer job and started back up last week. Before HR could set my new wage, they wanted a review on record. This company has massive turnover. I have been gone since October and only half a dozen of fifty people are the same. A complete stranger did my review. I've never worked with him, never seen him, he's never observed me, and until today I had no idea he was my boss. I always talked to the other bosses. He gave me all 2s on a 1-4 scale making me ineligible for a raise over their current starting pay. So now I'm getting paid the minimum possible. Yeah I'm a seasonal employee, but I'm also an awesome employee when I am there. Due to high turnover, there is no one in HR – corporate is handling things virtually. There's no one for me to talk to.…
This just happened and I had to post on my alternate. I was discussing an employee who worked there for a long time but was making less than the newer people. Way less. Wanted to bump him up and HR was peeved and wanted to know how the employee knew the pay rates and I stated that everyone talks. She tried to hit me with we need to discourage that because it is “ gossip “. Lol. I said it is federally protected and I cannot. I only know this thanks to this sub. Oh well good news. I got my employee the raise.
So, I'm not job searching right now, but I was about 6months ago so I still have my resume up on some job sites. I like to get alerts for jobs in my feild just to see what's out there. Right now I'm a gig worker. So I hop from job to job, but I am in a union. Avg I make between 90-120k a year. Through my union I have (as long as I'm working steadily) 100% paid for health insurance, a 401k, and a pension plan. I'm pretty happy with what I do, only thing is it can be a bit unnerving hoping job to job so I keep my eyes open for something corporate and more stable in my feild. A recruiter reached out to me through a job hiring sight I'm a member of. It was some 9-5 office job in line with my skills. She…

Affordability
What percentage of US homes do you believe households would not qualify for the loan to purchase their current home for todays price and interest rate? Part two of that question is from what percentage of those who qualified, would struggle to make those payments? Has anyone come across any data reflecting these numbers? I see tons of households where people are piling up 4 plus working adults because most people can not afford homeownership on their own. I don’t foresee people just coming to terms with living with family/roommates to survive as an end goal and people will seek alternatives such a tiny homes, Modular’s and so on to still have living independence but without a $1,500 a month plus mortgage.
buried power lines
Just smacked a buried power line with a digging bar. It was running hot with 12000 volts, luckily I only nicked the casing. Didn't stop from sparks flying everywhere or from spooking the hell out of me. Should've known better but the ground was tight as hell and the boss man told me too
Is this aloud?
My younger brother’s girlfriend applied for a new job and was successful. The new job has asked for a reference from the current employer, however the current employer is saying before they give a reference she will need to hand in her notice. She doesn’t want to do this as she doesn’t know when the new position will be available to start. Im uk based btw
So for context I worked at a popular gas station chain and the managers are still telling me to redo an application and come back because “you were such a good employee”. I quit a month ago due to being treated like dog shit and over worked. I just think it's funny, I was all that store had.
