I'll start with I’m over 50yrs old & retired from my previous career after 25yrs.
Now I work for a company with several physical locations. My day is spent doing “yard work” at each location. I’ve been left to work alone, starting my day when I want & go where I want.
1st day I was handed the keys & gas card to “my work truck” & told where “my tools” are stowed. Boss never showed up like he said to show me anything.
I’ve asked for direction, training (as I don’t know much about gardening , was just the only person to apply) & info on the lawn crews we contract with. Basically get no info other than “ Well, there’s plenty of work to stay busy”……
I’ve been given a list of things needing done twice. But when I go to take care of them, I find the contracted lawn crews doing it or already done. I was told to make a list of work do get done only to turn it in & only then be told, “Oh, we contract that out, it’s already scheduled”. But again, never given this info up front.
It’s degenerated to me getting up around 5am, clocking in remotely, then getting dressed & driving to work. Doing a few things, then driving/wandering around, usually going to the store for myself & going home to put away groceries & let me dog out. At some point, I will get some food & park watching the trains go by or go to each location to do something simple like pull weeds in the parking lot.
When it rains, I have went & found my boss to see if they want me to help with something inside. Again, left to myself……. No direction.
More often I end my day back at home, possibly a couple of hours early & watching tv, before clocking out.
I keep waiting to get called on this, but I seem to get positive comments on how great things are looking
