My parents are 40+ and they both work yet still can't even afford rent, My dad has a decent paying job but he makes more money for the guy than he's being paid and my mom works almost 3 jobs but only rakes in 1200 on a good month. I've tried to convince them to stop living like slaves and get a small cheap place so they don't have to work until they die for a greedy landlord, my dad still believes in the “American Dream” and thinks his hard work will be rewarded eventually, he has been working the same job for 25 years and hasn't been given a raise or even a single day of PTO. my mom just thinks they don't work hard enough therefore they're being punished like it's some religion.
Is there anyway I can convince them to stop being willing slaves and actually live the rest of their lives or is there really nothing I can do?
