Partner got put on PIP for made up issues

My partner failed to fit in to the boys club, and talked about his feelings and ambitions at work. (The desire to move back into leadership in this massive company and utilize his experience and education) He’s been targeted ever since. Just got put on a PiP for made up issues that the manager refused to follow procedure with or even talk to him about. Called him after hours with no invite on the books to give him notice, even though there was zero negative feedback and amazing positive experience from high level people. He has 30 days. My partner has ridiculous experience, multiple degrees (doctorate level) and almost 20 years in the industry and took a lower role after the pandemic to make ends meet.
