Perfect job ruined…

I started working at Walmart back in September 2021 at $18/hour. I got an unpaid hour lunch and 2 paid 15 minute breaks for pretty much every shift. Compared to my previous job at McDonalds, this was heaven. And it was! ..for the most part. When I arrived there, my department (produce) didn't have a manager/team lead. Nobody in charge of us, except for the general foods manager thatd stop in every once in awhile. We were severely short staffed. Usually just me and one or two other guys working until a few months go by and we bring on a few more. We were doing fine, almost everything was getting done and I actually enjoyed the job for the most part.

Plenty of breaks, the pay was good for my area ($18/ hour is the highest wage here) and no manager.

This all changes at the start of the year. Our department got a manager that transfered from the online order department. She was awful. We can call her Person Of Significance (POS). POS hated young people. Most of us on the team were teenagers, save for one guy that was older than POS. So she really had it out for us. Disrespecting us and our names, shit talking, slandering, threatening firing over pretty shit. Just overall being ignorant, hypocritical, stupid and the worst “leader” I'd ever worked for.

Earlier this month (April) me and the guys on the team talked. We were all quitting. I was the first to put in my notice, encouraged them all to do the same. The moment my notice went though, the dynamic changed. POS forced herself to try to be nice, but was so see through. Others planned on leaving as soon as they can. POS avoided me at all costs, clearly pissed off.

A lot more went on behind the scenes. I'll omit it for now unless the comments want more information.

Jobs really do come down to the management. Don't accept any disrespect from any superior. If at all possible, leave at the first sign of bad leadership.

Now, the department is trying to lure people in now at $20/ hour. They've gotten 1 new employee in the last 2 months. I hope they get what's coming to them.
