This just happened this morning. A coworker of mine, all him Kevin, started at this company in February, 2022. Performance Reviews are done yearly in March of each year with any salary adjustments coming out in April
March 2022 Kevin is told “you just started here last month, so we are not going to do a performance review, doesn’t make sense”
Sure. That’s understandable
March 2023. Kevin is told You will get a performance review this year but just be aware that Salary Adjustments are only for those who worked a complete calendar year, January 2022 through December 2022. Since you started in March, you won’t get a salary adjustment but, hey, good news train, you will get a review
Kevin got them to put this in writing and then he just quit. I can’t say as I blame him. What a BS move for a company to make. Penny wise, pound foolish as the saying goes
Going to withhold a small, crappy raise (and raises at this company truly suck!) from a good employee because you can is just asinine. Companies will do whatever they can to save the “expense” of an employee, I swear.
Now our team is down three positions and I’m sure the company will “work hard to fill those roles”. I already informed my manager there was not a hope in hell I’d be picking up the slack for what Kevin was working on, I’m already doing the job of two, I’ll be damned if I add another persons job to mine. In fact, I’ll be intentionally cutting my work output down to what one person would do and they can just figure it the heck out
