Personal help for my work application & Addiction Advocacy

I know employers & colleges typically look at people who volunteer with organizations as prospective good employees at least I thought so. Anyway I have a career job interview coming up and besides all the bullshit that comes with work and not liking work Id like to know anyone’s perspective on the subject of saying I spend my free time being an advocate and speaking at events. I go to rehabs and speak to the people there about how to get life right and try to be inspirational from time to time which I think would be good to show dedication and work outside of work, but the topic of addiction is not a good one in a lot of peoples eyes and could see me (a recovering addict) as potential trouble/liability. Anyway I would like to use advocacy as a way to say I am a “good person” and I would like to change the topic which I have mixed feelings about, which I feel may be okay as long as it is a topic I am passionate about. I already also do volunteer work at an animal shelter, but know work reform would be a bad one or pro union or addiction or prison reform / crime / having a criminal record (which I do not anymore it has been expunged) also I am a straight white male & feel as tho it would be wrong to use and also I could not use human rights as a topic either, I think replacing that I go to rehabs to try to inspire others could be replaced with religious equality? Idk if that is fucked or not. I am passionate about that too and could change rehab to just “places” and drug addiction to “religious equality” or is it a bad idea either way? It is a $25/hr job that is very competitive for the government with full benefits that does not require a college degree, so I’d like to use it as a way to sell myself to the employer though that was never my intention to have it as a resume bonus or any of that crap. I just am unaware if prospective interviewers would look at that and say fuck no we don’t want that guy causing trouble. Any insight is appreciated thank you.
