Hello! I just started working for a small business in my college town. I’m a college student so finding a job is pretty hard here, atleast one that fits with my schedule, nearby, and pays well.
I got this job at a vietnamese restaurant that is a local business, its a 2 minute walk from my apartment and i already really like working here despite the pay only being 11$ an hour (im in texas so minimum wage is 7.25$)
basically,, I do a lot of work but mainly cashier/food prep/boba maker, etc, its a little hard to explain but basically everyone does everything. So even cooking.
The main issue I have is that today I was told all the tips (electronic and cash) go straight to the “company” (Boss’s Pockets) and not spread between the crew.
Is there anything I can do about this? I might post about the restaurant on a local subreddit in the area and encourage people not to tip here but is there anything i can do ? Its a local family owned business so iI have no idea the laws set in place to prevent this.
Like i’m being underpaid already, doing a lot at a fast casual dining restaurant for only 11$, so the tip thing is making me considering quitting already and i got this job 2 days ago!
