Planning to call out sick to not deal with something that’s not my fault or anything

I work as a legal assistant. I assist 3 attorneys. 1 of the attorneys just never ever takes client calls. The worst part is that my job can only do so much for clients. I can’t discuss the case details nor give legal advice. So when clients call wanting to speak with their attorney to talk about their case or have questions I can’t answer, it’s just the worst feeling having to lie all the time the attorney isn’t available. When in reality he is at the office. He just doesn’t want to talk to the clients that call in. Even worse when clients catches on that the attorney just doesn’t seem available like ever, I’m like speechless in what to say because I do agree but I can’t tell them that. Well I’m planning to call out sick on Tuesday. It’s already worst enough that this attorney makes his appointments himself and I always have to play phone tag/message tag with him to get appointments with clients. He scheduled 2 appointments on Tuesday morning when he’s got court. I don’t know if he will make it back on time for his appointments and I don’t want to be front face of having to be like “oh I’m sorry can you please call another time?” Or he will have me pass along a message that includes legal advice and I don’t feel comfortable disclosing legal advice. And if I don’t have another time and clients will rightfully get upset over a set appointment being missed. And guess who will be yelled at? Me. So no i rather stay home and call out sick. Besides I have plenty of sick time. And I just got back from a short vacation and pull off the sick card right.

It just sucks I have to go to this lengths to not deal with something that isn’t even my fault.
