I’ve been working at a subway location for about a year now, it’s terribly managed by a young blonde female who knows nothing about business. I’m getting paid $11.50/hr and got started at $8.30. My title is Sandwich Artist but this location has made me do everything, I might as well be a chef and janitor. I don’t get paid enough and everyone hates working there. We have a mandatory meeting this week, our manager told me and another employee that the actual owner, our boss’ dad, was pissed that his underpaid employees were pissed they were underpaid. Apparently the whole point of the meeting is so he can yell at us for not wearing full uniform ( everyone wears a subway shirt at the minimum, no one likes the stupid aprons), he wants to mock us for asking for raises we apparently don’t deserve when more than half of us have sacrificed more than enough for his bad sandwich shop. I personally have lost time with my dad, the days I want off I never get off. Favoritism is a huge problem at this location, I get interrogated for a doctors note over a cold! and then the managers can just no call no show whenever they feel like it. For instance, I’m a bit in debt right now to my dad and I need to cover it by June and finding another job is difficult but I’m really considering walking out if all this man is going to do is ridicule and reprimand us at the meeting instead of trying to help us.
