This happened a couple of months ago when I left/was leaving my job to move to a different state.
Some background:
Worked retail distribution as an office employee. It was a good job for a good company, though I was relieved to be leaving because I just don't think I'm made for in office desk work.
I've always taken my attendance really seriously because of harsh bosses in the past, so I have never called in for anything short of serious illness or other emergency. I had accrued over 120 hrs of sick time and was leaving the company, so I finally convinced myself to play hooky to go to a concert a city away.
It was the best night ever. I got to spend time with my wife and saw a small band I'd been introduced to on tiktok. Smoked a bunch of weed in this little venue surrounded by emo kids.
I can't really see myself calling in like this on a regular basis, but it's a good reminder to use that sick time if you've got it (even if you're not sick 😉 ).
