Please, go post on Glassdoor

I started job hunting again last week, and a few seconds ago I saw a r/antiwork post wishing that there was a website to share salaries. After a week of scouring the internet for company and salary information, I have determined to post on Glassdoor at least every other year whether I love my current position or hate it. I know that Glassdoor has problems, but the biggest problem as a job seeker is having zero information on a company. Zero salaries and one, lonely 5-star review; “Great Company!

I’m Totally not Management!!” I don’t need all the reviews to be genuine, but if one third of them are negative and talk about a toxic environment, that’s a very valuable red flag.

I also understand that some employees are easier to triangulate than others. I think my only suggestion there would be: convey the most important information accurately. If you want to call out management for inappropriate policies, but you’re the only Canine Hygiene Engineer at Petsmart, just put down that you’re a cashier for the review. Obviously, position title has to be accurate for pay info, but I don’t need to know your exact position to know that Owner Steve berates employees and rescinds PTO.

In the end, I don’t care if it’s Glassdoor or another site, but I do think that people on r/antiwork could provide each other with a mountain of helpful info if we made this a habit.
