So today is my day off. I know this for a fact since I had Thursday instead of Wednesday off for Thanksgiving last week and my shift was to go back to normal. About halfway through a work day, at exactly 1:00pm I get a call from one of my team leads, I decide I don’t want to deal with it and don’t pickup.
I figured it’s either a question of what I did yesterday or if I can come in today. So, I check my schedule. Guess what I see for 1:01pm? A “last updated” message over my new schedule. Meaning my schedule was updated by a manager at 1:01pm… To start working today… at 10am. That’s my normal starting time. but this means that I was absolutely fine until the second that schedule changed and now I “qualify” for attendance penalties on a “no call, no show” level.
So I can’t seem to phrase this in a way Google can help me with. But isn’t it illegal to reschedule an employee to start working after that starting time already passed? It seems to be legal for them to just tell you when to come in, and supposedly there’s a bill pending for 24hr notice but isn’t in effect yet. But I can’t seem to find anything calling this bullshit out?
Either way, I plan to deal with it with either that load of shit and/or one of his superiors tomorrow when I go in “off of my schedule”. If worst comes to worst, I’m not worried about being fired. I’m living at home just saving for the next few semesters of college, and have a good savings at the moment. If they fire me, they’ll be hurting much more than I will since my job was specialized to keep corporate off of the store manager’s ass.
