I don't wanna specify the district and obviously no names, but Price Chopper (who merged with Tops Markets and claimed this type of disaster would never happen) made record profits the past few years. Payroll has been cut so low (because, according to our zone director, we “can't afford it”) that most department managers are working alone. I mean stocking, ordering, paperwork, everything alone. Our front end is ran by one cashier and the Team Lead is almost always doing both the office and the self checkout. I'm trying to get my store riled up about it, but a lot bootlickers are here. You can see they are exhausted and frustrated, but they keep responding with “it is what it is hyuk hyuk”.
Two stores in our district (there's 14 or 15 total I think) have managers stepping down, and now they want all the other stores to send help. Why the fuck won't they just STAFF US CORRECTLY!?
For those that shop there, by all means get the number to the corporate office and complain that they are doing a bad job staffing us.
And before anyone says just work somewhere else. Guys, damn near everywhere is like this. Retail workers deserve to survive, and tens of millions of people can't just move up to corporate positions, or even want to.
