My job (NY-based) at a large F500 company is now forcing us all to return to office after having been remote the past 3 years. As our company has been struggling somewhat financially, I suspect this policy shift is to encourage employees to leave, saving the company from having to pay severance during inevitable layoffs that will come.
I do not want to return to office. I’m done with that.
What is the best way to exit?
Try to get fired for poor performance, and then collect unemployment before a new job?
Wait it out until layoffs come, be unproductive, and hope to get laid off?
