I recently had my end of probation review and idk what to think about it. I was on probation for 6 months and they want to extend it for 3 months because of a “misjudgment from their side.” They said it’s nothing that I’m necessarily doing wrong, they just want more time with a more secure management system.
Long story short, I was basically hired because my boss was going on mat leave. It was a very rushed process and I was basically thrown into the job on my own after 2 days. Everything has been going fine, I guess. Learning from my mistakes and shit. I haven’t had an office job before so the “weren’t expecting much” from me because they just needed a person asap. In the time I’ve expanded my job, doing things that are beyond my job description, fixing mistakes, all that shit. Apparently that wasn’t good enough.
My only improvements they had for me was to basically be more formal in my emails because I’m “too friendly” and update people when I do things.
I was going to ask for a raise because I’ve been basically doing 3 jobs right now and I complete everything that’s given to me plus more.
I just think it’s funny how they extended my probation to right around the time my boss comes back from mat leave… Also that she came in from mat leave to give me my review even though she hasn’t been in the office. They were like “you’ll get your benefits but you’re still on probation” (?????)
I just wanted to rant about this for a bit. I think I’ll probably start looking for jobs soon… Also hopefully no one from my work is on this sub LOL
She also kept me for a hour after work ended for this meeting. Missed my train and was about to miss the next one.
A few questions: Is this allowed? Should I be in contact with my boss even though she’s away? In contact with her after work hours???
