PTO use for everything…

Had a job last year, their definition of an unexcused absence was anything that didnt get covered by PTO. The kicker was they allowed up to 8 hours of unexcused absence a month but they had it split by pay period. So the only way around it to prevent losing your commision was to only call out for half days once in a given pay period. But who the fuck calls in sick at 8am but then shows up at 1pm… They demanded I use my PTO if I was sick or had a doctors appointment. Wgich made no sense to me because how do tour workers take vacation time? If i accrue a total of 9 PTO days a year thats less than 1 a month. Basically if i get sick for 3 days i have to wait 4 months to get that PTO time back?!?!? I refused to…

They demanded I use my PTO if I was sick or had a doctors appointment. Wgich made no sense to me because how do tour workers take vacation time? If i accrue a total of 9 PTO days a year thats less than 1 a month. Basically if i get sick for 3 days i have to wait 4 months to get that PTO time back?!?!? I refused to use my PTO as such and argued sick is sick the company can deal with it but i refuse to use PTO for it. Sure dont pay me for that day i was sick, but dont reprimand me and take my monthly commissionfor it… they tried to discipline me until I let them know that as a disabled vet if I used my PTO every single time I went to the VA I would run out of PTO for the year within the first 2 months.

My direct manager told me he didn't believe me… so I walked out of work went and sat at the VA for 5 hours and got a printout of every single fucking appointment I was supposed to be going to that I currently wasn't attending just to appease this new job.

Sure enough HR had to come up with some new rule blah blah blah oh we're classifying you a special case blah blah blah.

They fired me a few months later when Hurricane Ian hit and they demanded everyone who was evacuating needed to use PTO to do so. I lived in a mandatory evacuation zone and once again I refused to use PTO. Lost my job, but gained my sanity.
