Put in my two weeks notice this past Monday, making my last day the 18th. Felt good.
I wanted to leave on good terms and I didn’t want to burn any bridges with the company since I know a lot of people here.
So we have a late shift calendar and each day a staff member is asked to stay while trades finish up OT work on site, usually an hour past when you would usually leave. I’m cool with that and didn’t ask to be removed even though I’m checked out at this point.
My manager just told me that this Friday when I’m the scheduled late shift coverage, will be a very late night – working until midnight. He tells me I can come in late that say since of the extra hours.
Two things to keep in mind –
- I am a salary employee not eligible for overtime.
- My bus does not run late, so the latest I could come in soho would be like 9am. And the bus does stops after 10pm. Meaning I would have to wait until 6am to get home.
My other option is driving in, but I would have to cross a bridge and pay for parking – both of which they do not allow me to expense.
So I might tell them no, I won’t be working Friday. Again I want to leave on good terms, but also feel like they are fucking me over knowing I’m leaving in another week.
Update: So I spoke to my team and I'll just work my standard 8 hours + 1 hr overtime. Will just be coming in later so I'll be here to cover that late night shift.
