So I need to start off with some important background info…
I have an infection on my arm and I feel pain when I move it. In my job (for the government), I sometimes have to use physical force in a high-risk environment. As this is impossible for me and I don't want to risk my condition worsening, I have switched my shifts for the past 3 months to night shifts. Recently my employer has been refusing to switch my shifts thus I have resulted to speaking with my doctor to get a note from them.
Last month my doctor gave me a note informing my employer to switch my shifts to nights for one month, which they did. However, faster forward one month later and the wound has not healed and no improvements have been made.
I went to my doctor the other day and she was hesitant to give me another work accomodation note to switch my shifts again. She only gave me 15 days and I know for a fact this is not going to heal in 15 days. There is absolutely no way I can work during the day and risk my health and my coworkers as I'm constantly working around inmates.
I've read a lot of posts on here in past about people making fake doctor notes and I actually already scanned the note she gave me and I changed the dates on there to 30 days instead of 15.
My question is, can the employer verify details on a doctors note and how likely are they to do so? I realize it is illegal for the doctor to disclose any details about your condition, but can they still verify the what they wrote on said letter?
