question regarding reasonable accommodations

hi, not sure where to ask this question but I thought someone here might know. I am diagnosed with severe ADHD and have made it known to my employer multiple times. As part of my ADHD, tardiness is a frequent issue (not just with work but with everything in my life including doctors appointments and anything else that requires to arrive at a specific time) I have a retail/service type job, which I’m scheduled to arrive 30 minutes before the official opening time of the store. hi,

not sure where to ask this question but I thought someone here might know.

I am diagnosed with severe ADHD and have made it known to my employer multiple times. As part of my ADHD, tardiness is a frequent issue (not just with work but with everything in my life including doctors appointments and anything else that requires to arrive at a specific time)

I have a retail/service type job, which I’m scheduled to arrive 30 minutes before the official opening time of the store. I always arrive before the store officially opens but often miss the exact time (30 minutes early).

I requested accommodation to be allowed to arrive by the official time the store opens. My boss basically just straight told me no. Didn’t take anything into consideration. Sometimes I arrive on time, sometimes 15 minutes after, sometimes 20-25 minutes after. It’s very difficult for me to be consistent.

He’s threatening me now over my lateness. Am I protected under ADA or NJLAD (this is in NJ) in this circumstance?

As far as I can tell “flexible scheduling” is a reasonable accommodation, and as I arrive always before the official open time (when customers arrive), I don’t see any undue hardship.

Can anyone offer any help? Or should I contact an employment attorney? Thanks.
