Question regarding wages in the Uk.

I'm in the UK, and I am pretty sure wages went up april 1st right? My wages are paid cash in hand, and they keep a week in hand for whatever reason, anyway, I get paid on Saturday, so the 9th I still got £9 an hour instead of the £9.50 its supposed to be now, is this normal? Secondly there is no reason whatsoever for me to not get £9.50 this Saturday right? I've worked extra hours last week and will this week, which timing wise is good for money, at the same time however I'm worried they will screw me and pay me the old wages. One more thing is I'm thinking of asking for a wage increase or leaving if they say no within next few months, what is a reasonable amount to ask for? I have worked at this place on and off for 3+ years…

One more thing is I'm thinking of asking for a wage increase or leaving if they say no within next few months, what is a reasonable amount to ask for? I have worked at this place on and off for 3+ years now and am the most hard working member there (just based on what my job requires I do compared to the other staff)

I'm 22 and was thinking of asking for like £10.20 instead of £9.50, but I don't know if its too soon to ask now after wages already gone up, thanks 🙂
