Questioning why people hate shiftwork?

I love the threads where people leave or even better screw over shitty employers but over the years I've never understood the frequent hatred for 12 hour shifts on this sub. I work as a Homer Simpson type role in the power industry and love working 12's. Admittedly the industry pays well, is unionized and pays double time for OT which there is as much as you are willing to take. But after working a 12 hour/day schedule for years where I work 10/14 days and then have 10/14 off every 28 days I wouldn't trade it for the world. With vacation and banked OT I can take 18+ days off 6-7 times a year and do stuff or just spend time with family. I'm sure shift work is doing a toll on me but I'll happily pay it.
