Quitting Fast food job-just mention it at the start/end of last shift/ or over the weekend by phone?

Tl;dr: moved back to town, took fast food job, bad attitudes from management, need to quit. Reference not needed. Staying until I have my most recent check then I’m out. I work at a fast food chain focusing on ice cream and burgers. I recently moved back to my home town and it is the first job offer my way that is right where I want to be. So I was happy to take it! I have lots of working experience in other fields, and I’m over 25 so I didn’t plan on being here very long in the first place-just getting a couple pay checks to get by for rn until I find something else close. but I’ve been here for 2.5 weeks and it’s pretty bad. During the interview, I was told that certain disciplinary actions would be taken if say, you are late from a 10 min…

During the interview, I was told that certain disciplinary actions would be taken if say, you are late from a 10 min break, you call out without a replacement, which I totally understand. They went on to say they will decide whether or not to stop paying you for your 10s, if you are always asking when your break is or if you are getting one, and if anyone is gossiping or talking mean about coworkers or customers they get termed/ zero policy blah blah, it sounded like they were used to some crap like that. I’m a good employee with a great work ethic, and am not worried about all that anyways.

The current owners bought this store franchise just under a year ago. Since I have started, it is clear that customers are surprised/grateful/and appreciative of my positive attitude and friendliness- even one lady saying “wow you have a great attitude! Have a great day honey!” After resolving an issue. I’m great at customer service bullshit) they are used to some bad attitudes from what I have seen.

So far, the managers/owner person especially are always talking shit about people, even customers in the background while I’m cashing them out at the window. I think it’s totally rude, I don’t talk crap about anyone at all..until I’m home and venting to my bf about our days. When they get someone’s order wrong, they totally blame the person first, saying that’s what they ordered, etc. when it is clearly their mistake in the kitchen/whoever took the order/ they make the customer hand back the wrong food in order to get their correct order- this part grossed me out as they always resell it. I mean with COVID going on I personally won’t eat at my work anymore knowing I could be eating food/icecream that some random person handled..

The main owner/manager lady keeps sighing and rolling her eyes at me when she walks by or whatever and keeps going out of her way to be rude to me…On my last shift we just got thru a few orders with me taking them thru the speaker. and another car came at the drive thru. she took the order and was trying to kind of make fun of me by copying my tone of voice/friendly greeting over the drive thru headset, because my customer service voice is pretty annoying after a while, she got an incredibly positive response and it actually made her mad!

They just started to going back to assigned tills as well, she kept saying a few times that if someone steals money from my register while I’m logged on that it comes out of my pay..

I’m just getting bad vibes and feel like I’m going to get fucked over somehow-my pay, or something else.I really didn’t expect the toxic crap. I get my check this week so I’m working until I have it in my hands at least so they can’t try to hold it. The next check would only be a couple shifts so not a big deal to wait for that last check. I just need advice or some encouragement lol

Edit: to add, the only reason I don’t want to put in a 2 week notice is because I’m afraid of money magically going missing while I’m on a till, or some other bullshit going down in spite of me leaving
