Quitting without follow-up employment

I work for a security company that has me doing Loss Prevention for a large department store. I started 3 months ago and was given very little training. I was told the job is $16/hour and has no benefits at all. No sick time, no personal time, no vacation na-da. I took the job because It was getting to the point where I needed money or else I would be homeless. So I took it. I'm so mentally drained from just non stop surveillance of criminals stealing and having to stop them just for them to deny it and try to fight me or get confrentational. My grandma passed away last month and it was hell to get those days off I needed. I was given 3 days off unpaid to help setup the funeral and service (day 1 & 2), and to experience the entire body numbing depressing funeral…

My grandma passed away last month and it was hell to get those days off I needed. I was given 3 days off unpaid to help setup the funeral and service (day 1 & 2), and to experience the entire body numbing depressing funeral service (day 3). Then back to work the next day…

I have been paying $25 per paycheck for uniforms. So far I've paid $75 and have only received 2 used undersized polos that was given to me on day 1. My general manager whom I am suppose to ask any questions I have, is completely worthless. He doesn't know a thing that's worth contributing to my job.

Im passionate about doing videography and editing but there's absolutely no way I can go to college for this. I do freelance work but it's extremely rare I get a gig that pays over a few hundred bucks every few weeks. In addition I don't have the money for new equipment.

I just want to leave this job and never look back. Then I look at my bills and the pay rate of jobs available… Everyone is paying $12-$13.50/hour when I'm HARDLY surviving on $16. The price of everything has gone up other than our pay rate. I feel enslaved to this system. After looking at indeed for a few hours, I just end up sticking it out for “one more day” until the weekend hits. Then I can finally relax and recharge. Then it's back to the same old cycle of hating every moment here. Wasting away my 20s here… help
