i have recently become aware of some very gross racism within my workplace. i work in retail in Tennessee. My coworkers are primarily white, conservative, religious, cis women. every time poc enter the store, someone says something along the lines of, “a tornado is here, watch out.” when i asked a coworker what that meant, they explained that poc are messy, primarily because they are trying to steal indiscreetly. other instances of similar behaviors include calling one of the workers with a tan “a mexican,” becoming impatient with clients that do not speak fluent english, and so forth. i have not been made aware of the route to take for reporting these behaviors. if anyone has some advice, please let me know.
