Rant: Did I have the right response for a worker at the drive thru that was rude?

I went to a pollo tropical for lunch & while the staff is usually known to be pretty bad at this one, the one that I dealt with today really turned me off. I go to the drive thru, order at speaker then go to window & ask him for a sauce. He looks at me & goes “you’re making me do more work”. And I said “excuse me?!” I knew I heard right but he was kind of mumbling then he repeats it again & says “ that’s making me do more work no I’m just kidding”. And I said “excuse that’s very rude remember I’m a customer I’m not your friend”. And he apologizes, I grabbed the food from him, make sure it looks right & then he hands the sauce. I then say “I’m going to your manager” & drive off. I’m a Karen but he’s an…

That irked me so bad, most people hate their jobs me included but I wouldn’t dare talk to someone like that. That’s not how “customer service” works
