I was thinking long of I should post this..
Trigger warning: death involved
The company I've been working for 10 years( way to long, one of the biggest mistakes in my life and I regret it deeply) promised us a bonus. BUT they don't know when or how much exactly (they gave us a number) and neh and nah.. Always tell different stories.
Well. My most beloved person died not long ago. She was like a mother to me and I don't know how I can live without her. There's much to pay now, funeral, getting everything in order, paying rent for her apartment etc. Death is expensive.
Since the company promised the bonus, I took myself together and went to HR to ask if they could give me the bonus now because of the current circumstances which I explained to them. It took me so much will power since it's very hard for me to talk about this and I never asked for money upfront or anything before.
Well HR repeated their mantra “we don't know when or how much etc. You should go to your local welfare office, they can help”
I never expected them to give me the entire bonus nor do I need it right now(it would've been great to get some money to help with everything and thought it's worth a shot) but the way they talked to me…was again a wake up call slap in the face.
They didn't even say their condolences..
If I had a company and an employer asks for a salary advance or a promised bonus but earlier because of a death in the family. I would never send them away like that! Shines a really good light on the company if they send their employees to welfare office because the company doesn't pay enough.
10 years without any sympathy in return!
I've many stories but that's the one that bothers me the most and it was so recently. They lost all my respect now.
Oh almost forgot. They're advertising the company with “we are a big family. Do you wanna be a part of it? Apply today!”
