I'm currently trapped in a short-staffed, high stress, toxic, hellhole of a job and I need OUT! I started applying to other places very rapidly and I eventually got an interview I feel went pretty well.
They specifically told me afterwards, unprompted, that I'd hear a decision from them within 2 weeks, whether I got the job or not. It's been more than a month and I've heard NOTHING! My emails were IGNORED by ALL of the interviewers. I get that it was the holidays, but seriously?? They actually took the time to assure me that they'd reach out to me with a clear answer. Why do that and not at least follow through?? It takes 2 seconds to say, “I'm sorry you weren't chosen”. I took time off of work and lost money to go to this interview!
I'm reminded that apparently it's really normal for potential employers to string candidates along and fucking GHOST them after multiple interviews. Where is the regard for people? They're holding someone's potential livelihoods in their hands and they don't even have the balls to send a quick email to put people out of their misery? Heck, it could be a shitty automated one for all I care. I'd even take just simply updating the job status online to closed or filled!
We really are nothing to them.
