Some context first; I am an expat at an Asian country where:
– Rent for a two-bedroom apartment is around $400/month
– Dining out costs anywhere from $4-$5 to $20-$25 (no tipping required)
– A week's worth of groceries for 1 person costs $35-$45
– A can of beer costs $1.20
– A 20 minute taxi ride costs $4
– My monthly salary is $1,650 minus taxes.
– I give my mom $450 per month for allowance and to help with her rent (as is per custom in many Asian cultures)
– My rent is $400 / month.
– I spend around $350 on dining out, groceries per month.
– I drive a company car and they pay for my gas. (Gas is ~$4 per gallon)
