Between my distaste for capitalism's lie of infinite growth, and the idea that more money (above a point, which I'm at) doesn't buy happiness, I don't really need a raise.
I'd rather work less.
I want employees who have been in the industry for 30 years to work 4 hours per week (with the same benefits as someone who works 40 hours!). I want HR to offer each time you get a raise – more money or more time.
Let's normalize working less than 40 hours in a week!
That being said, I'm very lucky, and I'm comfortable at my current salary, I've got decent savings, and not much debt. I know some years I may want that raise, but this year's 3% increase isn't going to do much, and I'd rather get an extra week of vacation, or get to go home an hour or two early every Friday.
