Work uniforms/clothing costs
I wonder, could women include make up? Some offices do ask that they are “presentable”, meaning all done up and that stuff costs a lot of money. If you require it, then you should help foot the bill for it. Additionally, there are ethnicities that require professional attention. Namely, blacks hair styling (I'm not criticizing, I think their hair is beautiful), just that they often need to go to the salon or barber and that is an added cost they are accruing, and the business that requires it should help foot the bill. -
Shoes
Women could have a field day with this, but after careful consideration so could men. There are a lot of interesting designer gym shoes being introduced lately, guys and gals could have lots of fun here! -
Actual time worked
This includes when you get up, shower, make up applied (this takes awhile alone), dressed, commute,…anything related to work. Time sat in traffic, the time in therapy dealing with anger issues developed from the time sat in traffic. Legal fees from the lawyer you had to hire after you were arrested after that road rage incident during the commute in traffic that wouldn't have happened if you were still remote, etc. -
Transportation costs
Costs to maintain your vehicle (like tires, gas costs, oil changes). Also if you need help getting a vehicle to get to work, they should assist there too. Not a brand new vehicle, of course, but something. If not, then if you simply must come into the workplace then your manager should facilitate transportation. And for those that don't drive and live on transportation line: bus fare, uber fee, train costs…(you get the idea). -
Child care
If you weren't working you would be with your kid. So it is a cost you accrue because of working, so they should at least contribute to paying its fees. Some people would argue this, but the fact is YOU WOULD NOT REQUIRE CHILDCARE IF YOU WERE NOT AWAY FROM THE HOME. The bill exists entirely because of work, and while you can argue your pay is compensation – it is not. Your pay is supposed to be compensation for your work (and in an ideal world be enough to survive on). It does not take anything else into account and that is why workers suffer and argue today. -
Medical care
Specifically the worker/employee. Any medical or psychological issue that can be traced to the company. Their appointments, treatments, medicines should all be paid for. Healthcare plans for the rest of the dependents, but complete coverage for the worker. -
Legal liability
If you're demanding all of this devotion and overtime and blah blah blah…then you will accept responsibility for the havoc it wreaks on my personal and social life. As soon as my SO leaves and cites me working too hard or me never there because I'm always at work…when I'm in court fighting for custody of my kids because of me being a good worker…when my friend group cuts me out, you will accept legal responsibility.
You know abusers often isolate their victims, and forcing people into a cubicle farm for 8 to 24 hours a day is isolation from their friends and family. Isn't that abuse? We have a fit when farmers do this to animals, but its okay when its done to humans?
