So I [32/FM] recently started a new job that is full time and work from home based. I enjoy the job but find I work a lot of hours (I work every single weekend, both days) to make sure I never miss deadlines and maintain a certain standard of quality. I always do my best to deliver good work and take my work seriously.
Anyway, I don't want to give too much information but one of my tasks was a technical SEO-y kind of task that involved updating the site. I received instruction (that was minimal at best) and proceeded. The task described sounded straight forward enough even with the little information about what to do so I felt confident to start.
This is where it goes to crap. I basically crashed the site and it was down for the day. A couple of other people had to spend 3 or 4 hours fixing it.
I apologised and offered to help also. I was told by my manager we would need to have a discussion about it the following day.
Long story short, we had a meeting and I got a formal warning. I was glad I had my camera off because immediately started crying when they told me. I felt so disappointed in myself. They also sent me an email after the meeting.
They told me that other than this my work has been very good and they're happy with me but have to warn me because of the mistake. My manager called me after to see of I was okay and said they didn't want give me the warning but had to.
I dunno what to do now. I feel so stupid and I know I won't be trusted ever again. I really have been doing my absolute best with this job, I feel if even my best gets me a warning then whats the use?
I'm also on probation because I'm new so it's extra unnerving regards job security. Should I just start searching for a new job now??
