(23 Male) Two months ago I received employee of the year honors for my work in 2021. I was so happy to receive the honor since I went above and beyond for my company. Covering peoples behinds on projects to also doing the majority of their work. I really took the bull by the horns and put myself out there to be a leader and I was glad that I was recognized. Im also at a job that Ive dreamt about since I was little.
Weeks roll by after being given the honor, coworkers from my department were given promotions to higher paid rolls. Rolls that I thought I was a for sure shoe in for. Theres been 4 promotions in total of coworkers that I completely blew out of the water that received the thumbs up. Im absolutely devastated that all my work was for nothing but a stupid plaque. Ive spoken to friends and family and the only answer they have for me is “Welcome to the real world.”
