So a little back story. I work in production and have been at my current company for about 4 yrs now. All last year I fought tooth and nail to get better wages for my peers in my department. After a full year of putting up the fight against management, HR and even some of my peers I got all current employees a $6 raise and new hires starting pay raised by $5. Albeit, these numbers are much better than what they have been, but still barely livable.
Onto my current situation. Throughout my tenor working here I have trained about 7 new hires on everything that the job requires. All of these were done with no extra pay and when I previously asked to be compensated for the extra work I was told that it was part of the job and I needed to be a team player. Low and behold when I saw the schedule today for next week I noticed that I was set to train another new hire.
How do I respectfully DEMAND extra compensation for the extra work that I am putting in to get people trained on multi million dollars worth of machinery?
I'm usually pretty good at this, but I've been fuming lately at getting treated like a cog in a machine and know that I am going to let my emotions get the best of me.
