Removed chairs to “boost productivity”

This'll be a bit of a rant because im frustrated. So I work at a factory in NH as an operator, and my work is always time-gated by how fast my machine runs. Today my boss took my chair away from me and when I asked why, he only stated that “this is now a sit-down only job” and refused to elaborate as to why. Now, my job requires me to cut material to within 0.001 inches manually, with a razor. I had argued with him that taking away my chair, and forcing me to try to cut this while towering directly over the part makes the job alot harder because then you can't even see what you're expected to cut. I also notified him that I had already spoken to HR(during on-boarding and the interview)about standing for the entirety of a shift and that it was something to be…

I also notified him that I had already spoken to HR(during on-boarding and the interview)about standing for the entirety of a shift and that it was something to be accommodated. So I started to offer him compromise, like switching with another person at a job that didn't have a new, asinine requirement and he responded by just threatening me, “You fucking better get used it or there'll be consequences” he said.

So I announced that I'll be taking it up with HR and the staffing agency, and I left. I got a phone call from a co-worker who overheard shortly after who told me that Hr made the decision themselves to “boost productivity.” Which they overheard because the boss immediately called in hr to his office and didn't bother shutting the door.(the office is directly off the production floor)

Production is time gated by the machines themselves, it is strictly impossible to speed up production by removing chairs. Whoever tf thought of this is an asshole and deserves a fat lip.

Also, what pisses me off way more, is that my boss actively shut-down any form of compromise and just started yelling at, swearing at, and threatening me. Which is a real shame because I otherwise really respected the guy.

Anyway, I found a new job within 3 minutes of walking out. I haven't been fired, but I think I'm probably going to take the new job anyways. Fuck that shit
