I took on a job as a cleaning technician, cleaning and maintaining oilfield components and hardware. Midway through my employment, the general manager implemented a waste water treatment plant.
I have been in constant contact with water treatment engineers of the company that provided the treatment plant for the last 3 months, trouble shooting and correcting aspects that were missed in the initial installation. I am the only employee who was able to take this on as everyone else is intimidated by the chemistry and management of the plant.
I emailed (because I wanted to start a paper trail) the general manager that I felt unfairly compensated for doing work that others in my role won't/can't do and calmly requested a raise to reflect the extra duties and responsibilities. To which he responded, “Thanks, I'll take this under advisement.”
3 days later (today), I was called into a meeting with the GM and an HR rep and told I was being fired without cause and escorted out. What is this world coming to.
