and I'm scared he might hurt someone eventually.
So I don't work at this store I just know someone who does. He has told me so many unsettling stories from this place. Of course the place is horribly managed and the male managers are extremely sexist towards the female workers there and they've had people quit on the spot from being yelled at.
But worse of all is one of the managers is sex offender he slept with a minor and served his time already but hasn't seem to change his behavior. He's creepy towards female workers and doesn't seem to respect or even see them as people at all. And word around the store has said he's also a drug addict.
Most of the workers and managers smoke weed but other managers and workers have caught him high on what seemed to be not weed but something else like acid on the job.
My friend is just trying to make his way by on minimum wage but he's sick of being treated like shit and sick of his drug addict and pot head managers getting to sit on their asses while being complete assholes to all the workers. It's like they're not even getting anything done at all. They're so disorganized and constantly assigning weird shit to workers that don't get the job done. And the rare few that do quit pretty earlier on.
He does genuinely like some of the people he works with but the managers are unbearable.Apparently this place has always been like this and they can't get anyone new to work there (I wonder why lol) and they aren't allowed to hire minors unlike most other locations. The place is muddled with rats and mice that even destroy alot of merchandise and there's always shit covered bathroom. He's been told stories of past managers who cheated on their spouses after giving head in the parking lot and had sex on store furniture displays after hours. They never were fired they just quit. So this place has a history of messy managers.
Anyways my friend that works at the store doesn't seem to care or see any of it as a big deal despite always telling me all these stories constantly. He's just trying to make it by on paying rent. I asked why hasn't he tried reporting anything to hr or police (as he works in a pretty big chain store) and he kept saying he wants to stay out of people's business that doesn't effect him. Maybe it's because I'm a girl but I feel like it does effect him and anyone that tries to work there. I don't work at this store but I'm still scared of girls possibly being groomed or abused there.
This subject has caused a huge rift in our friendship too. I've gotten in so many arguments with him because it's so fucked up and he's always acted as if this is all so normal. I've offered to file reports for him whether it's hr or he'd want to take as far as the police and that's when I finally got him to fess up he's scared if he snitched that the manager would kill him or something.
I'm keeping all this very vague for that reason no names, locations, or what chain it is. This is the only thing he agreed he let me do. I feel as though I have to do something but this basically all I can do without getting involved.
