Same University Two Different Experiences

I got my first full time job but was non exempt. My supervisor made us make up if we left 5 minutes early. I now work in a different department make about 8k more. I'm exempt so unfortunately can't earn comp time but if I get my work done I get to leave 2 hours early if need be. Co-workers leave when they want as long work is done. My supervisor happens to also be the director of the department and let's me take an hour and thirty minute lunch (paid as long as I at least answer one email). I get two days to work from home as long as I don't have an important in person meeting.

I never thought I'd be this happy. And find an anti-work attitude
