Security company was pulling me from my post then mentioned I needed to train my replacement

This happened in October. The security company I was working for called to inform me that they were going to have to pull me from my post as per request from the client who, according to the company, were unspecific as to why this was happening. The manager who was telling me all of this told them they had something else lined, but it would be too far and didn't work with my wife's schedule, who also commuted with me to work. Since it didn't work for me, I decided to put in my 2 weeks' notice instead. This apparently surprised the manager, but he didn't argue. What's suspicious, though, is that this happened the day after I left work early because my wife took a fall at her job, which ended up hurting her knee that already has a permanent injury (torn ACL).

The following week, a field supervisor showed up who casually mentioned that I would have to train my replacement. When I asked if I'd get paid extra for doing so, she flatly told me no. I then told her I wouldn't train the new guard unless I got extra pay, which she refused to discuss. The most she did was advise me to contact the manager who ended up ignoring me instead.

I got ahold of him hours later, and he refused to say much. His exact words were, “You already told us you wouldn't do it. So what do you want?”

I said, “I said I wouldn't do it UNLESS I got extra pay.”

“Yes, I heard you. So what do you want?”

I pressed this further, but he avoided discussing anything with me, so I asked, “Is the new guard going to be here?”

“The new guard's schedule is none of your business.” Feeling offended, I decided to tell them that I wouldn't be coming in the next day. They “accepted” my resignation, but what I didn't bother telling them was that my resignation was going to be immediate. I packed up all my things and left right then and there nearly 4 hours before my shift was over. I sent my uniforms and equipment back in the mail.

2 days after all this, someone from the client's office called to ask me for help. The ill-trained guard had apparently done something that left their gate stuck open, and they couldn't figure out how to close it. I knew exactly what the problem was, but since I didn't work there anymore I told them I wasn't going to help and that it was highly inappropriate for them to be bothering me at all.
