The place I worked before now, I wasn't getting paid my entire shift, essentially the first 15mins and last 15mins they'd just not pay me, and then they'd underpay their casuals, It was a bottleshop so they'd have 2 people come in, they'd work an hour and a half stocking our inventory, then go home but only be paid the 1.5hours, in Australia I'm unsure if other countries do this, but the minimum is 3 hours even if you've only been there for 30mins and get sent home they pay you for 3, I approached them and told them their rights and they seemed shocked but unfortunately didn't want to rock the boat or their employment, my last straw was when I was scolded for taking a 5min toilet break, i had already been forgoing my mandatory 15min break and 30mins one on my shift but to not even be able to do basic human functions was it.
My new employment, I was sexually harassed by a higher up female cowoker and when I complained it wasn't taken seriously as Iam male, I was called “weak willed” for being upset, the only ones who did care were her friends, they threatened me not to return so my employer had to pay me compensation and transferred me out to a store 40mins away, at first the new store seemed great, most coworkers are friendly.
Except they have me working in a position that was clearly made for me in mind just to get me off compensation, I do all the work in an hour and have to find something to do, usually helping other departments but even they don't have much for me, it feels incredibly unfulfilling.
I also am only entry level but they have me completing tasks that are higher ups responsibilities, their reasoning is “that's just how we do things here, it's different haha”
If I take a day off for sick leave they roster me as not showing up and I have to track down my sick pay even though I've provided proof, I feel like any job I've had is just horrible and ran by horrible people, I want to leave this job but I fear I'll only trade this in for something potentially worse.
