I just started working at Sephora. I am required to put my belongings in the locker PRIOR to clocking in because that 1 minute is a minute too much. Adding to that, I am have to clock out BEFORE getting my mandatory search in which they check my pockets and purse. I’m being forced to stay on the work premises after work to be searched but am not getting compensated for the time. Worst part is that I don’t want to complain because I’m new here but as far as I’m aware, it’s illegal in California to mandate such checks off the clock.
I understand why the searches exist but it’s annoying having to be checked every single time I plan to take my lunch or clock out of work. They even check my skinny wallet that isn’t even big enough to fit chapstick.
